Monday, April 8, 2019
Willow Field Elementary students recently celebrated the completion of New York State English Language Arts testing with a special visit from several Syracuse University student-athletes and Otto the Orange.
SU senior women’s volleyball player Santita Ebangwese, freshman cross country runner Eleanor Lawler, redshirt sophomore cross country runner Kayli Jones, freshman women’s hockey player Marielle McHale, freshman women’s hockey player Abby Moloughney, junior women’s hockey player Kelli Rowswell, sophomore women’s soccer player Kate Donovan and sophomore women’s soccer player Stephanie Delaforcade visited with students in kindergarten through sixth-grade to congratulate them on their hard work.
The SU student-athletes also explained how the character strengths WFE students are learning about as part of The Positivity Project – such as kindness, leadership and perseverance - are many of the same traits the student-athletes use as members of their respective teams.
Before ending their visit, the SU student-athletes and Otto the Orange posed for group photos with the WFE students.
